- Q: I recently switched to F1 and have configured CP to work with F1.
- However, when F1 goes to dial it does not use the modem INIT string
- I specified, it uses my old CALL modem string. What am I doing wrong?
-
- A: Your Boss modem INIT string is still set to the old CALL modem strings.
- Select Edit Boss Database and select the BOSS in question to change this
- modem INIT string.
-
- CP allows you to set various levels of modem init strings. The most
- common and straight forward are the INIT, DIAL, HANGUP... strings under
- the Modem Information Edit dialog. CP will use these if other priority
- strings are not found. These other INIT strings are attached to each
- BOSS. Since CP supports multiple BOSS's, a unique modem string can be
- attached to each boss. That way if one boss requires a certain modem string
- and the other a different modem string you can set them under each Boss and
- not worry about it again. If you do not wish to use BOSS specific modem
- INIT strings then leave these fields blank (under the BOSS information). This
- will force CP to use the INIT string that you supplied under the Modem
- information dialog, when calling all systems.
-
- F1 Users: If you checked the F1 (check box) under the Path Editor Dialog, then
- CP will take the modem strings you specified and will write them directly
- to the F1 Prefs file. If you wish for F1 to use the settings you supplied
- under the original F1-Setup, then do not check this box. If the box is not
- checked CP will not touch the F1-Pref file.
-
-
- When you perform a CALL:
-
- o CP looks for a boss specific INIT string. If one is found it is used
-
- o IF no boss specific string is found CP gets the Default Modem INIT
- string, you specified.
-
- o If the F1-Check box in CP is enabled then CP will write this modem INIT
- string to the F1-Prefs file.
-
- o If Cope/TabbyNet are being used then CP looks for an APPL called 'CALL'.
- If the APPL is found then CP writes these modem strings to STR's 300-305
-
- o If all modem strings are NULL or CALL can not be found CP will not write
- out any modem string information.

- Q: I use Cope's Call module to poll a Boss - not too much drama there - but after
- a successful Poll and unarcing automatically (using arcmail extract) CP
- doesn't auto import the messages from the .pkts. I have 'auto import' and
- 'multifinder' checked under system settings. (System 7.0.1, SE/30 5/80). If I
- choose 'import messages from utility menu it's fine, goes ahead and imports
- them (very quick, too :-)). Or, if I quit CP then open it again it auto
- imports the .pkts sitting there. But it won't automatically do so as part of
- the event chain. Am I missing something obvious?
-
- A: CP 2.x is not mfEvent aware. That is it does not recognize when it is placed
- in the background or brought to the foreground. Therefore, when you are using
- CP _subLaunching, you will need to select the Import Messages Menu option
- whenever you want CP to scan the PKT's path for any new packets to import.
-
- If you turn off CP _subLaunching then CP will automatically import (if you
- have auto-import option turned on, under the System Settings Primary dialog).
-
-
- Q: While running CP 2.3 with auto-pilot on, all CP wants to do is launch my mailer
- cycle through and attempt to launch it right away again. This happens over and
- over....
-
- A: I am not sure what is causing this. But if it happens to you then delete your
- 'CP Config' file and your 'Master Events' file and let CP rebuild them. This
- seems to solve the problem.
